Tech Mahindra Share Price: Q2 FY27 Results, 1:1 Bonus Issue and What the Numbers Mean
Tech Mahindra reported Q2 FY27 consolidated net profit of ₹1,586 crore, up 32.7% year-on-year, on revenue of ₹16,180 crore, up 15.6%, according to the company's press release dated October 15, 2026. The board also recommended a 1:1 bonus issue and declared a ₹15 interim dividend. The Tech Mahindra share price closed at ₹1,650 on the NSE that day, up 4.75%, before the results were released after market hours.
For shareholders, two questions matter: how much of the growth is genuine business momentum, and what does the bonus issue actually change? Here's a clear breakdown.

- New deal wins: $1,023 million in total contract value, +25.4% YoY.

What Did Tech Mahindra Report for Q2 FY27?
Tech Mahindra's September quarter showed the biggest improvement in profitability, not in revenue. EBIT rose more than twice as fast as revenue, which means the company kept a larger share of each rupee it earned.
| Metric | Q2 FY27 | QoQ | YoY |

| Revenue (₹) | ₹16,180 crore | +3.0% | +15.6% |

A year earlier, in Q2 FY26, Tech Mahindra's net profit was ₹1,194.5 crore, Business Standard reported. The jump to ₹1,586 crore confirms the 32.7% growth figure.
GoPocket Analysis: How Much Growth Came From the Weaker Rupee?
Revenue grew 15.6% in rupees but only 6.8% in dollars. That gap of roughly 8.8 percentage points is largely the effect of a weaker rupee, which converts the same dollar revenue into more rupees.
Why does this matter? Dollar growth is the better measure of how much new business Tech Mahindra is winning from global clients. Rupee growth includes a currency tailwind that can reverse if the rupee strengthens. The margin story is more company-driven: EBIT margin rose about 260 basis points in dollar terms too, so cost discipline and pricing played a real role.
Two more simple calculations help put the quarter in context:
- Net profit margin: ₹1,586 crore ÷ ₹16,180 crore ≈ 9.8%.
- Distance from 52-week high: the ₹1,650 close on October 15 was about 11% below the 52-week high of ₹1,854 recorded on February 3, 2026, based on NSE data.
What Does the 1:1 Bonus Issue Mean for Shareholders?
A 1:1 bonus means each eligible shareholder gets one free share for every share held on the record date. The board recommended this ratio subject to shareholder approval, and the bonus record date has not yet been announced. Tech Mahindra last issued 1:1 bonus shares in March 2015, along with a stock split, Business Standard reported at the time.
A bonus issue does not create value on its own. Your number of shares doubles, but the share price adjusts roughly by half on the ex-bonus date, so the total value of your holding stays about the same.
| Illustration (100 shares) | Before bonus | After 1:1 bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Shares held | 100 | 200 |
| Theoretical price | ₹1,650 | About ₹825 |
| Holding value | ₹1,65,000 | About ₹1,65,000 |

What changes in practice? The share price becomes lower per unit, which can make the stock easier to buy in small quantities, and future per-share figures such as EPS and dividend per share will be split across twice as many shares. Interim Dividend of ₹15 Per Share
The board declared an interim dividend of ₹15 per share. According to media reports, the record date is October 23, 2026, and payment is expected by November 13, 2026. On the ₹1,650 closing price, the dividend equals about 0.9% of the share price. This interim dividend is separate from the bonus issue.
What Are the Risks?
- Currency: A stronger rupee would shrink rupee-reported growth.
- Demand: Dollar revenue growth of 6.8% YoY is moderate; IT spending by global clients remains uneven.
- Margin sustainability: A 14.8% EBIT margin is improving but still below several large peers; wage revisions could pressure it.
- Bonus expectations: Bonus announcements can create short-term excitement that doesn't change business fundamentals.
What Should Investors Watch Next?
- The bonus record date and shareholder approval timeline.
- Constant-currency revenue growth in Q3 FY27.
- Whether EBIT margin holds near 15% through the wage-hike cycle.
- Conversion of the $1,023 million in new deals into revenue.
